Our Story

We jumped into blended family life back in 2001
after only dating for a short time.
We knew roadblocks would pop up along the
journey — but we didn’t anticipate how challenging
it would be.

We began supporting stepfamily couples shortly after our wedding and have had the privilege of supporting hundreds of couples for more than two decades.

Our personal journey and professional experience uniquely position us to educate, equip, and empower blended family couples as they navigate the complex dynamics of blending.

About Mike

Life began with an inevitable thrust into stepfamily dynamics.

My mother passed away just after my 1st birthday, leaving my dad with three kids. We moved to Scottsdale, AZ to live with my grandparents. Dad worked and was attending college, leaving lots of time to bond with Nana and Papa.

Later, my dad, my sister, and I moved from my grandparents. I was around 7 years old at the time. It wasn’t long before Dad announced that he planned to re-marry…

About Kim

My daughter, Annika, was not yet two years old when my ex-husband and I separated.

Divorced seemed inevitable as my world fell apart. I never imagined I’d be a single mom, on my own and facing an unknown future. The realities of “sharing” our daughter was painful — but this was our new normal and eventually, I would learn to cope with limited, part-time connection to my child. Annika and I formed a special bond and created our own unique family…just the two of us.
